A new synthesis of 1-chloroalkynes

Abstract

4-Unsubstitued isoxazolinones derived from the corresponding ß-ketoesters can be chlorinated and converted into 1-chloroalkynes upon treatment with sodium nitrite and ferrous sulfate in aqueous acetic acid.
